We are always aspirational for our students and introduce them to the business world and to higher education institutes wherever possible in order to broaden their horizons. We thought you might like to share their experience at Magdalen College, Oxford.
“Head for the day”
We thought you might like to share a little of Evan’s special day with him.
Year 2 were studying ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and Evan designed a golden ticket giving a special prize to the finder - they would be Headteacher of Lent Rise for the day! Mrs Bigland believes that everyone should have a little magic brought to them once in a while so she made his dream come true!
At the end of his special day Evan said, “When Mrs Bigland is old and grey, I will be Headteacher of Lent Rise School”. So we are also ensuring that we have a succession plan in place! Around 2030?? We will look for the name Mr Sharma as Headteacher of Lent Rise School.
The hamlet of Lent Rise is a small community to the south of Burnham in the county of Buckinghamshire, more or less equally divided between the parishes of Burnham and Hitcham.
Building in the area started in the 1890's and by 1970 the increasing population of primary aged children exceeded the places available in existing local schools.
The Lent Rise Ethos
Lent Rise School opened in 1973 and today has a flourishing and ever growing population.
The ethos that the school projects is of a caring community where the children learn to grow in self-confidence, where high expectations are fostered and all are helped to develop an awareness of the need for mutual trust and respect.
Our Facilities
The school has many extra facilities, an excellent library, a computer suite and a well resourced Early Years area.
The grounds are attractive and include grassed areas which contain a football pitch. Sport is a major attraction that the school can offer. In 2006 and 2009 the Boys won their league - and we have high hopes for the 2010/11 season.
The Girls won the inaugural league in 2005/06 - and have won it every season since, including the current seasonof 2009/10 - that is 5 in a row now!.
The Girls team won the annual Festival Cup in 2004, 2006 and 2008 - as well as being runners up in 2005 and 2009. In 2009 they won the first knock out Girls Cup competition, and followed this up with winning it again in 2010 - making it a league and cup double for 2009 and 2010. In 2009 the Girls were County 6 a side champions at the Bucks Youth Games and reached the final again in 2010 - losing in extra time.
